Felt like home

Penola backpackers is a small family owned hostel with great facilities and cosy rooms. You have all that you need, even a bbq! Perfect location, but the best in the attitude of the owner that made us feel welcomed and comfortable. Thank you, Sandra and all the best!

This hostel was for me the best hostel in whole Australia since i startet travelling 15 month ago.
I came with no money at all and was a bit broke, but the owner (Sandra) a lovely nice woman who care about all the hostel guests like familymembers, provided work for me and a lot of other backpackers.
Dont get me wrong, it's not a working hostel, we had a lot of other international travel guests.
The Hostel itself is really clean and if you stay there you gonna feel like home! That's the reason why i decided to stay there for more than a half year! I could save a lot of money, buy a car and did some holidays in Tassi.. i am now on my roadtrip with all the money i could save there!
If you are a long time stayer you just pay 20$ per night wich is for a hostel like this really cheap!
Mount Gambier (the second biggest city in SA) is close to Penola and the Grampiens are a daytrip far away.
Robe with its beautifull beaches is also really close.
Best wishes to Sandy and her family :)

Very nice and comfortable, seems to be in our own home. The bed is really good and warm. The only disagreement is the toilets and the showers outside.. During autumn and winter is around 5/6°C at night..
